My Research on Light Festivals Featured by ISCTE

I’m delighted to share that ISCTE – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa has published an article on its official website spotlighting my research on light festivals. The piece, titled “Festivais de luz, muito mais que evento de luz”, presents light festivals not merely as entertainment but as powerful tools for urban, cultural, and territorial transformation.

The article draws from my doctoral research developed at CIES-Iscte, focusing on festivals such as LUMINA (Cascais) and Luza (Loulé). These events illustrate how light festivals contribute to cultural tourism, stimulate local economies, and open new perspectives on how public space and collective memory are reimagined through light and night.

It’s a great honour to see this work featured by my university, and I hope it encourages more reflection on the roles of cultural events in shaping contemporary urban life.
