Teaching Philosophy

I am committed to creating a dynamic and inclusive learning environment that fosters intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and real-world application of knowledge. In my teaching, I emphasize the intersection of culture, society, and urban spaces, and explore how they shape the experiences and identities of individuals and communities.

For my undergraduate and postgraduate students, I prioritize the development of research skills and methods, as well as critical analysis and communication skills. I recognize the importance of research and its application in social science and aim to provide my students with a foundation in research design, data analysis, and interpretation of findings. I also incorporate new technologies, such as online databases, software for data analysis, and virtual research tools to enhance their learning experience.

In addition, I strive to create an inclusive learning environment that reflects the diversity of our student body, including multiculturalism, LGBTQ+ inclusion, and internationalism. I encourage my students to engage with a range of theoretical perspectives and empirical research examining how social identities and cultural practices intersect with urban spaces.

In my teaching, I also place an emphasis on internationalism and global perspectives. I believe that a strong understanding of social sciences requires understanding the experiences and dynamics that shape other parts of the world. I encourage my students to engage with the global community, examine cross-cultural differences, and develop a critical awareness of social, economic, and political issues that affect communities beyond their own.

My goal is to provide my students with a foundation in social sciences and research methods that prepares them for a range of careers in research, policy, advocacy, and more. I strive to create a learning environment that promotes intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and real-world application of knowledge, while also embracing diversity, inclusion, and technological innovation.

University extension

As a researcher, I have organized various university extension activities that have fostered the creation of public spaces for debate, film festivals, and art exhibitions. These activities have been designed to engage with the university community and the wider public and to promote the exchange of ideas and perspectives.

By creating opportunities for individuals to come together and discuss topics of interest in an open and inclusive environment, I have encouraged critical thinking, intellectual curiosity, and a deeper appreciation for diverse viewpoints.

The film festivals such as UAF or Girando and the art exhibitions have also provided a platform for students, faculty, and the wider public to showcase their creative talents, and explore the power of visual media to communicate complex ideas and emotions.

Through these activities, Ihave been able to foster a culture of collaboration, creativity, and social responsibility, which are essential for building a stronger and more engaged university community. By promoting the production of open and public spaces for debate, film festivals, and art exhibitions, I hope to continue inspiring new generations of students, scholars, and artists to engage with the world around them, and to create a more just and equitable society for all.
