I’m pleased to share that my article “The Night Is No Longer Ours” was published in the Portuguese newspaper Público, via its P3 platform dedicated to culture and contemporary thought.
This short piece reflects on how our relationship with the urban night has changed. Long before the pandemic, many already felt that the night was slipping out of our hands. The article raises questions about what is lost when the night ceases to be a space for freedom, experimentation, and encounter — and becomes increasingly shaped by surveillance, profitability, and exclusion.
Writing this was also a way of making visible what often remains in the shadows: the feelings, bodies, sounds, rights, and desires that animate the city after dark.
